Post Description

Pay Scale   Pay Level-08 as per 7th CPC
Age   Not exceeding 35 years for SC candidates as on normal closing date. Note- Relaxable for regularly appointed Central Government Servant upto 05 years as per instructions/ orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time. For age concession applicable to some other categories of applicants, please see relevant paragraphs of the ‘Instructions and Additional Information to Candidates for Recruitment by Selection.’
Essential Qualification (s)   i) Master’s Degree in Physics Or Degree in Electrical Engineering or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgy from a recognised University or Institute and
ii) 01 year’s experience in Non-Destructive testing Laboratory Or 01 year’s experience in X-Ray Diffraction or investigation work on failure Engineering Material by Non-Destructive and metallographic methods of testing.

Note 1 Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
Note 2- The qualification(s) regarding experience is/are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Castes, if any stage of selection, the Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from this community possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the vacancies reserved for them.
Desirable Qualification (s)  
Duty(ies)   The duties and responsibilities of the said post include testing & evaluation of concerned laboratory samples and Scientific Officer will work in connection with the Development of Testing methods for these materials. Scientific Officer will also be responsible for performing the day to day work of Scientist ‘B’ (Non-Destructive) in his absence including issuing the samples to Scientific Assistant and signing of test certificates.
Probation   02 (Two) years
Note Mandatory Induction of Training of two to four week as devised and sponsored by National Test House in the field of duties and responsibilities of the post, as part of probation.
Headquarters   Head Quarter in Kolkata. Candidate is liable to serve anywhere in India in NTH’s Regional Offices.
Other Details   General Central Service, Group ‘B’, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial. The post is permanent.
