Post Description

Pay Scale   Level 12 (Rs. 78,800-1,75,200/-) in the Pay Matrix of the 7th CPC. (Total Emoluments excluding T.A. & H.R.A. at the time of initial appointment will be Rs. 78,800/- plus DA as applicable per month approximately)
Age   Not exceeding 50 years as on normal closing date. Relaxable for the Central/UT Government Servant upto the age of Five years in accordance with the instructions or order issued by Central Government.
Essential Qualification (s)   A. Educational

(i) Masters degree in Law with specialization in the field of International Law or International Relations or International Organizations from a recognized University.

Note 1- Candidates having specialization in International Law at M.Phil or Ph.D level, but not at Masters level will also be eligible.

Note 2-International Law would, inter-alia, include major areas of International Law such as Law of the Sea, Human Rights Law, International Environmental Law, International Criminal Law and International Trade Law.

Note 3- Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified.

B. Experience-

10 years experience as an Advocate in a Court of law in India or in the legal services of the Government or teaching or conducting or guiding research in the field of law from recognized university or institute of which at least 08 years shall be in the field of International Law or international relations, after acquiring minimum educational qualification.
Desirable Qualification (s)   Certificate course of at least 6 months duration in one or two foreign languages other than English from recognized institute.
Duty(ies)   To assist Legal and Treaties Division on Legal aspects concerning Indias International Treaties, Laws of seas, rivers etc.
Probation   1 year for direct recruits
Headquarters   New Delhi
Other Details   General Central Service, Group ‘A’, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial. The post is permanent.
