Post Description

Pay Scale   Level 10 in the Pay Matrix (Rs. 56100-177500)
Age   Not exceeding 35 years as on normal closing date. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/U.T. Government Servant upto Five years as per instructions/ orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time. For age concession applicable to some other categories of applicants, please see relevant paras of the ‘Instructions and Additional Information to Candidates for Recruitment by Selection.’
Essential Qualification (s)   (a) Bachelor’s degree in the Foreign Language concerned (Persian) with English as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level from a recognized University.
OR
(b) (i) Bachelor degree with English as a compulsory or elective subject from a recognized University or Institution, and

(ii) Diploma in Foreign Language concerned (Persian) with interpretership or translation standard from a University or Institute recognized by Government of India.

Note- The qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
Desirable Qualification (s)   Three years experience in teaching and/or translating relevant foreign language (Persian) into English and vice-versa.
Duty(ies)   • Translation into English of intercepted traffic, recorded tapes and printed materials.
• Translation of materials received from Military Intelligence Directorate and other sources.
• Preparation of training exercises for languages trained personnel,
• Maintenance of foreign language publications, collation of intelligence information.
Probation   One Year

Other Details   General Central Service, Group A’, Gazetted, Non- Ministerial, this post is to be filled on permanent basis.
