Pay Scale | Level 10 (Rs. 56100-177500/-) in the Pay Matrix. |
Age | Not exceeding 35 years as on normal closing date. Not exceeding 40 years for Scheduled Castes candidate as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Not exceeding 38 years for Other Backward Classes candidate as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appoint Central /U.T. Government Servants upto Five years as per instructions/ orders issued by the Govt. of India from time to time. Essential Qualification (s) |
A. EDUCATIONAL Degree in Chemical Engineering/Technology or Master’s Degree in Chemistry from a recognized University or Institute. B. EXPERIENCE Three years’ experience in Chemical works or in manufacturing and handling of explosives and/or in compressed gases and/or refining of Petroleum. Note 1 Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified. Note 2 The qualification(s) regarding experience is/are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing in the case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes if at any stage of selection the Union Public Service Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from this community possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the vacancies reserved for them. |
Desirable Qualification (s) | Doctorate Degree in any branch of Chemistry or Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering/ Technology from a recognized University/Institute. |
Duty(ies) | Administration of Explosives Act, Petroleum Act and various rules framed thereunder. Grant/renewal etc. of Licenses under the Explosives Rules, Gas cylinder Rules, Static and Mobile Pressure Vessels (U) Rules, Carbide of Calcium Rules, Cinematograph Film Rules and inspection of licenses premises under the above rules. Examination of explosives. Training of Public and other officers in detection and handling of Bombs etc. |

Headquarters | Nagpur (Maharashtra), however liable to be posted anywhere in India. |
Other Details | Indian Petroleum & Explosives Safety Service, Group ‘A’, Gazetted. The post is permanent. |
Any Other Conditions | The duties of a Deputy Controller of Explosives include performing tasks such as destruction of explosives, accident investigation, inspection of big premises, 20 meter high storage tanks, entering into storage vessels in deep sea etc. It could be challenging for someone with physical impairments to carry out the aforementioned tasks. For such a person, it will be riskier and unsafe to perform these activities. Therefore, a specific level of physical fitness is required for the said post. |
