| Pay Scale | Pay Level-7 (44,900-1,42,400) as per pay matrix. |
| Age | Not exceeding 30 years as on normal closing date. Not exceeding 35 years for Scheduled Tribes as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Not exceeding 33 years for Other Backward Classes candidates as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/UT Government Servants upto five years’ as per instructions/orders issued by the Govt. of India from time to time. | Essential Qualification (s) |
Educational- Masters Degree in Geology or Applied Geology from a recognised University or Institution. NOTE -Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified. Experience- Two(02) years experience in carrying out geological appraisals for minerals or ore deposits or research or teaching experience in the field of Geology or Applied Geology in a recognised Institution NOTE- The qualification(s) regarding experience is or are relaxable at the discretion of UPSC, for reasons to be recorded in writing in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Tribes if at any stage of selection the UPSC, is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from the community possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the vacancies reserved for them. |

| Duty(ies) | Conducting special integrated studies and other studies for appraisal of mineral deposits through inspection mines under provision of MCDR. Carrying out studies such as mine environmental/pollution control, techno-economic feasibility studies of the deposit. Periodic updation of National Mineral Inventory of leasehold area. |
