Post Description

Pay Scale   Pre-revised Pay Scale- Rs.15600-39100/- plus Grade Pay of Rs.7600/- in PB-3. Revised Pay Matrix Level-12 (78800-209200/-) as per 7th CPC. (Total Emoluments Rs.78800/- plus D.A. as applicable excluding HRA and T.A. per month approximately).
Age   Not exceeding 50 years as on normal closing date. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/U.T Government Servant up to five years as per instructions or orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time.
Essential Qualification (s)   A. Educational-
Certificate of Competency as Master of a Foreign Going Ship as recognized by the Government of India.

B. Experience-
Five years service as Deck Officer, after obtaining the certificate of competency of second mate (Foreign Going), of which one year must have been in capacity of a Master on a Foreign going ship.

Note- Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
Desirable Qualification (s)   (i). Extra Master’s Certificate of Competency or
Master of Science Degree in Maritime Affairs awarded by a recognised University.
(ii). Experience in survey and inspection of merchant ships and examination work for one year or more on the date of submission of application to the Union Public Service Commission.
Duty(ies)   Pertaining to Chapter IV of SOLAS including M.S. (DSRC) Rules, Chapter VI, VII and XII of SOLAS, Carriage of Cargo Rules, IMDG Code, Approval of Cargo Securing Manual, STCW, Fishing vessel, Casualty investigation of ships, other duties under M.S. Act, 1958.
Probation   One (01) year for Direct Recruits.
Headquarters   Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai and Mercantile Marine Departments located all over India.
Other Details   General Central Service, Group ‘A’, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial. The post is permanent.
